#1 - Jared Coffin House

Coordinates: 41.285100°, -70.100748°
Location Address: 29 Broad Street, Nantucket, Massachusetts
The Jared Coffin House in Nantucket, Massachusetts was constructed in 1845 by a wealthy sea captain and shipbuilder named Jared Coffin. It is famous for being the first mansion ever built on the island of Nantucket, and was obtained by the Nantucket Historical Society in the early 1960's. The old mansion is said to be haunted by the spirit of an elderly man, whose apparition is seen sitting in a rocking chair near the fireplace by employees and guests. Many speculate that the man's spirit is that of the late Jared Coffin who passed away in 1860, however many historians note that Mr. Coffin and his wife sold the mansion in 1846 and never returned. Another spirit said to haunt the Jared Coffin House is that of a young Puritan woman whose apparition is said to harass unwed couples who stay in the same room together overnight, as well as the spirit of an unidentified young girl. Guests staying at the Jared Coffin House often report witnessing these apparitions late at night, as well as experiencing other unexplained paranormal activity, such as objects moving by themselves, or being woken in the night by a shadowy figure standing over the bed.

#2 - The Chicken Box

Coordinates: 41.272801°, -70.091730°
Location Address: 16 Daves Street, Nantucket, Massachusetts
Established in the early 1900's, The Chicken Box in Nantucket, Massachusetts is an internationally famous restaurant known for hosting jazz, blues, and reggae performances. According to legend, the location was used as a speakeasy and hideout for bootleggers during the American Alcohol Prohibition in the 1920's and 1930's. Employees and customers at The Chicken Box often report seeing the spirits of a group of men dressed in 1920's-style clothing who appear to be dragging a large wooden chest from the restaurant. Many speculations exist about the contents of the phantom chest, however those who witness the men's apparitions report that they quickly vanish when approached.

Guests staying at the old hotel also report hearing disembodied footsteps, voices, and laughter, as well as experiencing other unexplained paranormal phenomena, such as lights flickering, and electronic devices turning on and off by themselves. Many Nantucket locals even claim that The Wauwinet Hotel is constructed over the site of an ancient Native American burial ground, however no historical evidence exists to verify these claims.

Since his death, churchgoers have reported encountering the spirit of a man matching Mr. Swift's description, especially in the church's bell tower.
