#1 - Maudslay State Park
"The Gates Of Hell"

Coordinates: 42.822133°, -70.927131°
Location Address: 74 Curzon Mill Road, Newburyport, Massachusetts
Maudslay State Park in Newburyport, Massachusetts is a 450-acre forest reserve with trails for walking and hiking. The location was originally settled in the 1860's by a wealthy investment banker named Frederick Strong Moseley and his family, who constructed two large mansions, a barn, stable, and multiple greenhouses. In 1985, the land was purchased by the state of Massachusetts, and although almost all of the structures were demolished, the foundations of several buildings still remain, as well as a large iron gate that once protected the property. Among superstitious locals, the old iron gates are sometimes referred to as "The Gates Of Hell," where hikers claim to witness the severed heads of a group of spectral men and women mounted on spikes. Others report encountering the apparitions of several young children playing in the woods late at night, or experiencing feelings of being followed or watched by an unseen entity. Although the reason for the presence of these spirits is unknown, archaeologists have noted that Maudslay State Park was once used by ancient Native Americans as a place of worship.

#2 - Newburyport High School

Coordinates: 42.813142°, -70.886247°
Location Address: 241 High Street, Newburyport, Massachusetts
Newburyport High School in Newburyport, Massachusetts was established in 1831 and is renowned as being one of the oldest public schools in the United States. It is said to be haunted by the spirit of a former teacher or employee whose apparition is allegedly seen by custodians working on the building's 3rd floor at night. Others report hearing the sounds of disembodied footsteps and voices, as well as smelling the lingering scent of pipe tobacco.

#3 - Old Hill Cemetery
"Old Hill Burying Ground"

Coordinates: 42.805382°, -70.876529°
Location Address: 7 Hill Street, Newburyport, Massachusetts
Old Hill Cemetery in Newburyport, Massachusetts was established in 1729 and is sometimes referred to as the Old Hill Burying Ground, or Sawyer Hill Burying Ground. The location is said to be haunted by seven members of the Pierce family who were buried in a large crypt, which has been desecrated and vandalized several times since it's construction in 1863. In 1925, a group of young men were caught breaking into the tomb after undressing members of the Pierce family and arranging their corpses around a small table, as if playing a game of cards. According to police records, the teenagers were apprehended by members of the Newburyport Police Department when they were found dancing around the cemetery dressed in the Pierce family's stolen clothing. In 1985, another group of teenagers were caught breaking into the Pierce family tomb, where they confessed to pouring beer down the throats of the deceased family members, as well as committing other acts of vandalism. Again in 2005, a man was arrested at Old Hill Cemetery after severing the head of one of the corpses inside the Pierce family tomb. Paranormal investigators and those who visit the old cemetery at night report witnessing apparitions and shadow figures that disappear into the darkness, in addition to feeling a strange presence, as if being watched by an unseen entity. Others report hearing the sounds of disembodied voices and screams, as well as whispers and scratching noises coming from within the old Pierce family tomb.
