Gravity Hill

The story of Gravity Hill is a popular urban legend throughout the United States. Although different stories and variations of this legend are often told, most involve an individual or group who were killed tragically in a car wreck, usually by an oncoming train near a railroad crossing, or at an intersection after their vehicle somehow stalls. The spirits of these individuals are then said to remain at the sites of their death to save the living from a similar fate by pushing their vehicles uphill, and out of harm's way. According to legend, motorists who stop at the site of a Gravity Hill and shift into neutral will experience their vehicle appearing to slowly move uphill, despite appearing to be on a flat surface. Some investigators even go on to claim that when applying a thin layer of flour or other powder to the vehicle's rear before visiting Gravity Hill, the outlines of ghostly handprints can later be seen. In most cases, however, the Gravity Hill phenomenon is easily disproven as being nothing more than an optical illusion.
