"The Potters Field"

The Milwaukee County Almshouse & Poorhouse Cemetery in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin was used beginning in the 1870's through 1974 to bury the bodies of indigent men, women, and children living at the local poorhouse. It is sometimes referred to simply as "The Paupers Field," or "The Potters Field," and is estimated to be the final resting place of between 4,000 and 8,000 unidentified remains, all buried in unmarked graves. Visitors often report witnessing apparitions and shadowy figures, or feeling a strange presence nearby. Additional research for this allegedly haunted location is currently in progress.
