"Ash Street Jail"
Coordinates: 41.633503°, -70.934451°
Location Address: 226 Ash Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts
Sometimes referred to simply as "Ash Street Jail," the Bristol County Jail House in New Bedford, Massachusetts was constructed in 1888, and is one of the oldest operating jails in the United States. Due to unsafe and unsanitary living conditions for inmates, the old jail has been the subject of numerous human rights lawsuits, as well as the site of two violent riots during the 1990's. The suspected axe-murderer, Lizzie Borden, was also held at the location for a short period while awaiting trial in June of 1893. The Bristol County Jail is said to be haunted by the spirits of former inmates who were executed, committed suicide, or otherwise died violently. Prisoners and guards at the old jailhouse report witnessing apparitions and shadowy figures, as well as feeling the presence of an unseen entity lurking nearby. Others report waking up with sleep paralysis, or feeling as if an invisible force is somehow holding them down. Sometimes also referred to as "The Bristol County Jailhouse," "Bristol County Jail," "Bristol County Prison," "New Bedford Prison," or "New Bedford Jail."

New Bedford Armory
"The Castle"
Coordinates: 41.641461°, -70.928156°
Location Address: 5 Sycamore Street, New Bedford, Massachusetts
The New Bedford Armory in New Bedford, Massachusetts was constructed in 1903 for use by a local militia called the New Bedford City Guard, which later became part of the United States Army National Guard. The location was abandoned in 2004, and has remained vacant ever since. Sometimes referred to as "The Castle," the old building is said to be haunted by the spirit of a National Guardsman who committed suicide in the gymnasium. Urban explorers at the old armory often report witnessing the former soldier's shadowy apparition, as well as feeling the presence of an unseen entity nearby, or experiencing unexplained cold spots and drops in temperature. Passersby walking outside the building late at night also report witnessing a man's silhouette staring out at them from the armory window. Former members of the Army National Guard who were stationed at The New Bedford Armory have even reported being pushed or otherwise assaulted by an unseen entity, as well as witnessing a cloaked, shadowy figure that disappears when approached by the living. The New Bedford Armory was featured in an episode of the popular television series, Ghost Hunters, where members of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (also referred to as "TAPS") allegedly captured video evidence of a foggy apparition in the building's gymnasium. At the same time, Frank DeAngelis, a former member of TAPS, reported feeling a spiritual entity pass through him and was knocked to the ground. The encounter allegedly frightened Mr. DeAngelis so badly that he resigned from the Ghost Hunters crew shortly after.
