Mission Point Resort & Hotel
"Mission Point Resort"
Coordinates: 45.851374°, -84.605211°
Location Address: 1 Lake Shore Drive, Mackinac Island, Michigan
The Mission Point Resort in Mackinac Island, Michigan was constructed during the early 1950's as a conference center by a religious organization (referred to by some as a cult) called The Moral Re-Armament. In 1966 the conference center was leased to Mackinac College and in 1972 was renovated for use as a hotel, resort, and vacation spot. The 239-room hotel is rumored to be haunted by several different spirits, including that of a former Mackinac College student named Harvey who committed suicide in 1967. According to police reports the young man's body wasn't discovered until almost six months after his death, hidden among the bluffs behind the resort. Although the official cause of death was listed as suicide by gunshot, many at the time were suspicious of foul play due to no firearm being present, and a coroner's report describing two bullet wounds to the victim's head. Since Harvey's death, his ghost has allegedly been seen by countless vacationers at Mission Point Resort, and has even been accused of grabbing, pinching, or otherwise harassing female guests. Other spirits said to haunt the location are those of former tribesmen and women from the Ojibwe tribe who occupied the land for centuries before European settlers colonized Mackinac Island. The Mission Point Resort was featured on an episode of the popular television show, Ghost Hunters in March of 2011.

Skull Cave
Coordinates: 45.857428°, -84.618555°
Location Address: Rifle Ridge Road, Mackinac Island, Michigan
Skull Cave is a small cavern hidden away in Mackinac Island State Park. It was used as a burial site by Native American tribesmen and women until the 1700's and wasn't discovered by European settlers until 1763 when a fur trader named Alexander Henry was forced to take shelter in the cave overnight. When Alexander awoke the next morning he was horrified to discover the cave floor was littered with human remains, and thus it was given the name, "Skull Cave." Although the skulls were removed, tourists visiting the old burial site frequently report witnessing shadow figures, apparitions, and other spectral entities. Other visitors report feeling a strange presence in the vicinity of Skull Cave, as well as experiencing sudden cold spots and drops in temperature that defy explanation.

The Mackinac Island Grand Hotel
"The Grand Hotel"
Coordinates: 45.851135°, -84.626205°
Location Address: 286 Grand Avenue, Mackinac Island, Michigan
The Grand Hotel is a historic coastal resort and hotel in Mackinac Island, Michigan. It was constructed in 1887, and is said to be one of the most haunted hotels in Michigan due to being built over the site of a former cemetery. According to local historians, builders began unearthing skeletal remains shortly after beginning construction on the Grand Hotel but were unable to adequately handle the relocation of the corpses. The building of the Grand Hotel continued as planned, however, with many historical experts claiming that hundreds of undiscovered bodies may still be buried at the location in unmarked graves. It is now said to be haunted by the spirits of these men and women whose final resting places were disturbed by the Grand Hotel's construction, and whose apparitions are often seen wearing clothing from the 1700's and 1800's. It is believed the hotel is also haunted by several other spectral entities, including a young girl named Rebecca who is frequently seen by guests staying on the hotel's 4th floor, and who is believed to have passed away in the hotel. Another spirit said to haunt the Grand Hotel is that of a woman in black seen walking a large dog on the porch after sunset. Employees working at the Grand Hotel at night also report feeling a strange presence, as if being watched by an unseen entity, and many also claim that the location is haunted by a dark, evil spirit with glowing red eyes who strategically appears to torment and oppress certain employees or guests. The Grand Hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in May of 1972.
