The Kemper Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin was constructed in 1861 as a mansion for a wealthy landowner named Charles Durkee. It was expanded over the years to accommodate an Episcopal church and girls' school, and now serves as a recreation center. Visitors and employees at the Kemper Center report allegedly witnessing the apparitions of a group of former nuns who remain at the location for unknown reasons. Visitors at the Woman's Club often report encountering the ghost of a woman seen wearing clothing from a bygone era, or hearing the sounds of disembodied footsteps and a bell ringing.
