"Yorktown Battlefield"

The Yorktown Battlefield within the Colonial National Historic Park in Yorktown, Virginia is said to be haunted by the ghosts of dozens of Colonial-era soldiers who were killed during the Battle Of Yorktown in 1781. In addition to witnessing apparitions and shadowy figures, many visitors also report hearing the sounds of disembodied muskets and cannons being fired in the distance, and the sound of a trumpet playing. Cornwallis' Cave

Cornwallis' Cave in Yorktown, Virginia was first used by colonists to store potatoes, and later to safely hide Confederate munitions during the American Civil War. Many believe that the cave was also used as a hideout for pirates and thieves, and some even claim it was used as a gathering place for a satanic cult during the 1970's. Those passing by the cave at night often report hearing the sounds of disembodied whispers, conversations, and voices chanting. Swan Tavern

The Swan Tavern in Yorktown, Virginia first opened in 1722. It was used by Union army troops to store gunpowder and ammunition during the American Civil War, but was destroyed by an explosion after the building caught fire in December of 1863. The tavern was rebuilt in 1935, and is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a mysterious man wearing a cloak. Additional research for this allegedly haunted location is still in progress.

It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman named Clara Turner, who is seen wearing a long, white dress by visitors. She is believed to be mourning the loss of her husband, John, who was killed by a stray musket shot while performing farm work during the Battle Of Yorktown in 1781. The Thomas Nelson House in Yorktown, Virginia was built in 1730, and acquired by the National Park Service in 1968 for use as a museum. The historic home was occupied briefly by British soldiers during the American Revolutionary War, many of whom were killed by American patriots. Their ghosts are said to haunt the location, along with the spirits of a number of Union and Confederate army soldiers who passed away when the house was used as a makeshift hospital during the American Civil War.
