The Chesapeake Beach Volunteer Fire & Rescue Station in Virginia Beach, Virginia is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former firefighter named Benjamin Bishop, who was killed in a car accident in December of 1971 at the age of 24. Ever since his death, workers at the station have reported experiencing a variety of unexplained paranormal activity, such as heavy footsteps, doors opening and closing by themselves, and firetruck sirens blaring. First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia first opened in 1936, and offers a number of amenities such as hiking trails, cabins, and picnic areas. It is located at the site where Christopher Newport and the first Virginia colonists reached land on April 26, 1607. The park is said to be haunted by the ghost of the notorious pirate, Blackbeard, who is believed to have buried a large treasure chest in the vicinity just before being killed in a skirmish with Lieutenant Robert Maynard in November of 1718. According to legend, his ghost can still be seen at night, guarding his hidden treasure from the living. Additional research for this allegedly haunted location is still in progress.
