Ft. Worden in Port Townsend, Washington was constructed in 1889 as part of Puget Sound's harbor defenses. The old guard house building is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former soldier who committed suicide, who is allegedly still seen performing his guard duties even after his death. Campers at Ft. Worden Historical State Park also report hearing the sounds of disembodied voices and moans, and witnessing mysterious glowing lights and orbs emanating from within the fort's abandoned buildings late at night. The old Holly Hill House Bed & Breakfast in Port Townsend, Washington was built in 1872 as a private residence. It was purchased by Colonel Robert Cosby Hill and his wife, Elizabeth, in 1884, and remained in the Hill family until 1980. The location is said to be haunted by the ghosts of the late Robert and Elizabeth Hill, as well as their son, William, who died of a stroke. The old Holly Hill House is a PRIVATE RESIDENCE located on PRIVATE PROPERTY, and trespassers risk being arrested or prosecuted by law enforcement and/or property owners. The Manresa Castle Hotel in Port Townsend, Washington was constructed in 1892 as Eisenbeis Castle by a wealthy man named Charles Eisenbeis and his wife, Kate. In 1925 it was repurposed for use as a retreat for nuns, and later as a Jesuit training school. In 1968 it was purchased by new owners and opened as the Manresa Castle Hotel. The location is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former monk who committed suicide in the attic, as well as a woman who committed suicide by jumping from a window. It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman named Claire who once worked in the brothel, and who is seen wearing a blue dress. She is sometimes also referred to as the Lady In Blue. The Rothschild House in Port Townsend, Washington was built in 1868 by a wealthy German immigrant named David Charles Henry Rothschild, and his wife, Dorette. The Rothschild family maintained ownership of the home until 1959, and in 1962 it was opened as a museum. The old home is said to be haunted by the ghosts of several former members of the Rothschild family, including David Charles Henry, who committed suicide in April of 1886. Hill Building, which housed a pharmacy and furniture shop downstairs, along with offices and other rooms upstairs. It was later repurposed for use as a hotel, where guests often report witnessing the apparitions of men and women dressed in clothing from a bygone era. Many also report witnessing strange glowing orbs at night, or hearing the sounds of disembodied voices and footsteps. Additional research for this allegedly haunted location is currently in progress.
