Sometimes referred to as O'Brien Cemetery, the Buckner Cemetery in McKinney, Texas was established in 1870 on land previously owned by the David William O'Brien family. It is said to be haunted by the ghosts of numerous men, women, and children who died during a smallpox outbreak in 1873, including a Native American chief named Spotted Tail, who was buried in an unmarked grave after helping to bury others who were killed in the pandemic. Chestnut Square Historic Village is a collection of six historic homes dating back to 1854, located in McKinney, Texas. Several of the old buildings are believed to be haunted by the ghosts of former residents and other unidentified apparitions, including the Armstead Taylor House, where the ghost of a former Civil War soldier is allegedly seen. The McKinney Performing Arts Center in McKinney, Texas was first constructed in 1876 as the town courthouse, which remained in use until 1979. It was added to the National Register Of Historic Places in 1983, and opened as a performing arts center in 2006. The location is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who committed suicide, often referred to as "The Lady In White." Employees also report witnessing mysterious shadowy figures and apparitions, or objects such as furniture being moved by an unseen entity. The Old Collin County Prison in McKinney, Texas was constructed in 1880. It is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a man named Ezell Stepp, who was sentenced to death and hanged in the old courtyard on November 17, 1922 for the murder of a local man named Hardy Mills. Ezell Stepp insisted throughout his trial that he was innocent, and due to the strong lack of evidence against him, many believe he was wrongfully accused. Ever since, prisoners and employees at the old prison have reported witnessing the silhouette of a man hanging in the courtyard, as well as hearing the sounds of disembodied voices, and experiencing other unexplained paranormal phenomena.
