The house known as "The Chimneys" in Fredericksburg, Virginia was built in 1772 by a Scottish immigrant named John Glasswell. The building is now a restaurant called Billiken's Smokehouse, and is said to be haunted by a number of unidentified ghosts and apparitions. Many report hearing the sounds of disembodied voices and footsteps, and experiencing other strange paranormal phenomena such as doors opening and closing by themselves, and objects like dishes and glassware being moved or knocked to the floor by an unseen entity. The historic Chatham Manor in Fredericksburg, Virginia was built in 1771 by a local patriot and legislator named William Fitzhugh. It is said to be haunted by the ghost of a young woman, known by many as "The Lady In White." According to legend, the woman was sent to Chatham Manor to keep her from marrying her true love, who was part of a lower social class. She planned to escape to England to elope, but her plans were discovered and she was forced to marry another man. Now in death, her apparition is seen by guests at Chatham Manor, especially on the night of June 21st, the anniversary of her death.
