Employees working at the library often report experiencing paranormal phenomena such as doors opening and closing by themselves, objects being moved or rearranged by an unseen entity, and feeling a strange presence. Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista, Virginia was established in 1867 as the Bowling Green Female Seminary. Students and faculty at Main Hall often report encountering the ghost of a young boy riding a tricycle, as well as another ghost of a woman seen wearing Victorian era clothing.
