Peacock Alley Bar & Restaurant
"Peacock Alley"
Coordinates: 46.805534°, -100.784842°
Location Address: 422 E. Main Avenue, Bismarck, North Dakota
In the heart of Bismarck, North Dakota, the Peacock Alley Restaurant stands as a testament to time, blending the rich history of the region with the artistry of culinary excellence. As patrons step through its doors, they embark on a journey that weaves together the past and the present, offering a glimpse into the storied history of this iconic establishment. Peacock Alley was constructed during the early 1900's as part of the historic Patterson Hotel building, and is intrinsically linked to the Patterson Hotel, a Bismarck landmark in its own right. Opening its doors in grand style, Peacock Alley Restaurant and the Patterson Hotel quickly became magnets for distinguished guests, including celebrities, politicians, and travelers seeking luxury and sophistication. During the American Alcohol Prohibition, Peacock Alley was discreetly transformed into a speakeasy—a secret rendezvous where patrons could enjoy their vices, such as gambling, alcohol, and prostitution. In subsequent decades, the Patterson Hotel faced its share of challenges, leading to its closure and reopening as a senior living center in the late 1970's. However, the spirit of this iconic establishment refused to fade away, and the building soon underwent an extensive restoration process, breathing new life into its hallowed halls. Since its reopening, many report encountering the ghosts of previous employees and patrons at the bar, as well as experiencing other unexplained paranormal phenomena, such as glasses and plates being rearranged by an unseen entity, or the disembodied sounds of voices when the restaurant is otherwise empty. Guests staying at the Patterson Hotel also report hearing the sounds of a party happening late at night on the eighth floor, and loud music from a band playing, however the source of these noises is never able to be found. Today, Peacock Alley is not just a place to dine; it is a realm where history and the supernatural entwine. Its role as a Prohibition-era speakeasy, its connections to notable figures, and its revival as a culinary destination have made it a timeless haunt for those who seek a dining experience beyond the ordinary. When guests enter its doors, they step into a world where the past beckons with spectral whispers, and the boundaries of reality are as ethereal as the phantoms that wander its halls.

North Dakota State Capitol
"The Liberty Memorial Building"
Coordinates: 46.819299°, -100.781435°
Location Address: 604 East Boulevard Avenue, Bismarck, North Dakota
Constructed in 1924, the Liberty Memorial Building in Bismarck, North Dakota has long stood as a solemn symbol of authority, its halls once echoing with debates, decisions, and the machinations of governance. But the very foundation upon which it stands is tinged with enigma—a place where whispered secrets seem to be etched into the stones themselves. Deep within its labyrinthine corridors, chambers lie concealed, their doors heavy with the weight of the unknown. These forsaken spaces, where time appears to hold its breath, have borne witness to many clandestine meetings and covert endeavors. The whispers of long-forgotten plots and unsanctioned alliances linger in the icy air. Late at night, a shadowy apparition from the past, known as "The Stack Monster," is said to glide silently through the building's dimly lit passages. This ghostly sentinel bears witness to the continued affairs of state, their presence a haunting reminder that history is an unyielding specter. Many visitors to the historic building also report hearing the sounds of disembodied voices and footsteps, or someone calling their name from empty areas. The Liberty Memorial Building transcends its role as a mere repository of documents and a seat of government authority. Behind its stoic countenance, secrets and apparitions converge, blurring the line between history and the supernatural, and the past reaches out to ensnare the present. Explorers who venture into its depths may find themselves entwined in a realm where history is not a mere relic but an ethereal presence—a place where the haunting echoes of governance refuse to yield to the relentless march of time. Sometimes also referred to as "North Dakota State Library," "The North Dakota Liberty Building," or "The Bismarck Liberty Memorial Building."
