"The Ramsay House"

The Alexandria Visitor Center in Alexandria, Virginia was constructed during the early to mid-1700's as a private home by a man named William Ramsay, one of the major founders of the town of Alexandria. It was known as The Ramsay House and remained in the Ramsay family for many years. Those visiting the historic building often report witnessing ghostly figures dressed in clothing from a bygone era, who remain at the location for unknown reasons. Gadsby's Tavern Museum

Gadsby's Tavern Museum in Alexandria, Virginia was constructed during the late 1700's as a separate tavern and hotel, which were later adjoined into one business. It was renovated for use as a museum in 1976, where visitors and employees often report witnessing apparitions, and hearing the sounds of disembodied voices, footsteps, and a woman crying. Many also report encountering the ghost of a beautiful young woman who died of an unknown illness at the tavern in October of 1816, known only as "The Female Stranger." Inova Alexandria Hospital

The Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia was constructed in 1872 over the site of an old plantation. The woods surrounding the hospital are rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a Confederate Army soldier who was killed by Union troops while trying to get to the old mansion to visit his lover. The John Douglass Brown House in Alexandria, Virginia was built in 1772 by a man named Patrick Murray, and is also sometimes referred to as the Murray-Dick-Fawcett House. Passersby often report witnessing the ghosts of former soldiers dressed in Revolutionary War era uniforms. The John Douglass Brown House is a PRIVATE RESIDENCE located on PRIVATE PROPERTY, and trespassers risk being arrested or prosecuted by law enforcement and/or property owners. The Lee-Fendall House in Alexandria, Virginia was built in 1785, and was used from 1863 until 1865 as a makeshift hospital for wounded Union Army soldiers during the American Civil War. Those visiting the museum report encountering the ghost of a woman dressed in clothing from a bygone era, as well as another woman and her child whose identities are unknown. In 2009, the Lee-Fendall House Museum was featured on an episode of the popular television series, Ghost Hunters. Additional research for this allegedly haunted location is still in progress.

Woodlawn Plantation in Alexandria, Virginia was constructed between 1800 and 1805 for Major Lawrence Lewis as a wedding gift, and is now a museum. It is also sometimes referred to as Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House. Visitors report witnessing a number of apparitions throughout the historic plantation, as well as experiencing other unexplained paranormal activity, such as doors opening and closing by themselves, objects falling to the floor, lights flickering, and the disembodied sounds of voices, footsteps, and loud banging.
